Music fills the streets and dancing is highly encouraged. Lovers’ hands are bound together with cloth to symbolize their love and commitment to one another and are expected to spend the day this way. Couples are given small gifts of prosperity, such as flowers, small tokens, food and decorations for a happy home. |
Feast of Beasts | |
Early Fall September 15th Lysheu |
A great hunt is held to help fill the city's meat stores before the scarcer seasons of Fall and Winter set in. The greatest hunter is crowned "Lord of the Hunt", and a feast is held after dusk. After the feast an effigy is burned in the night to ward off beasts and spirits. Lysheu is asked to forgive the hunters and see that the creatures taken were not killed for sport, but to sustain the city and its people. |
Tide of Wishes | |
End of Fall Third Sunday of November Mouros |
The Tide of Wishes is a day of remembrance and reflection on the passage of time. Citizens of the city set up small shrines to their ancestors, light candles and leave small tokens and offerings to the spirits of those no longer with them. After sundown, paper lanterns are set loose over the bay with the wishes and hopes of Nuren's citizens written on the outsides of them. |
Festival of Enlightenment | |
Early Winter December 15th-18th Renzu |
The four day long Festival of Enlightenment is held in honor of Renzu and all the Griffin has given the people of Nuren. The first day is the Gift of Knowledge. The people of Nuren gather in city squares and open areas to listen to the Scholars and Elders pass on stories and lore. The second day is the Gift of Sentiment, where people pass on an item that is sentimental or meaningful to themselves to a stranger. The third day is the Gift of Acquainting, where people are encouraged to spend a day getting to know strangers and spending time with people they are unfamiliar with. This is meant to be a day of learning about the lives of others. The fourth and final day of the Festival of Enlightenment is the Feast of Familiarity, a day of feasting. Every household is encouraged to hold a small feast that their near and dear can come to share with them. Throughout the day, people travel from house to house of the people they care for, including new friends that were made during the days prior. |
The italicized dates beneath them are the Out of Character dates. The third bit of information on the left outlines what the festival, celebration or date is meant to honor. |
